Greases represent a big part of the carbonaceous pollution of municipal wastewater (approximately 35% of COD).

They produce very important harmful effects in networks and wastewater treatment plants (filling, foaming, odours, bad sedimentation and bad dewatering of sludges).

Also, it is essential to remove fats by degreasing.

The spreading and the hiding of these wastes are or will be prohibited in few years. Another way of elimination is often incineration, but it is very expensive.

 

The least expensive and best adapted treatment today is on site greases biological treatment.

The solutions which we propose can quickly be paid by saving the cost on waste elimination.

Our range of bioreactor machines makes it possible to find solutions for all sizes of WWTP. A receiving and dumping station is also possible to treat fat tanks from restaurants.

The development of the services for the non collective cleansing has significantly increased volumes of collected liquid matters from septic tanks.

The existing equipment on the WWTP does not make it possible to accomodate collected volumes.

There is therefore a very interesting solution for the primary treatment of this effluent strongly septic and charged in COD.

Firstly to increase the oxidation reduction potential (ORP) and to treat pollution when it is still concentrated, which allows to limit the impact of important contributions on the activated sludge.

Primary treatment of septage allows the reduction of the total energy’s consumption of the activated sludge and the risks of bulking phenomena.

The clarification sludge (biological or physicochemical) is increasingly difficult to eliminate.

Agricultural spreading is recognized to be the most acceptable way from an environmental and economic point of view.

To perennialize your spreading plan, a solution is the stabilization of sludge by aerobic digestion. In addition to stabilization, this digestion allows a reduction and sanitation of sludges.

For a better treatment

There is also the possibility of making a combined treatment of grease and septage (septic water). The advantages of mixing the two products are as follows:

  • Reduction of the organic load before introduction on the WWTP (reduction of the power consumption of the activated sludge),
  • Only one dumping tank for fat and septage,
  • Only one trip for suction tanker,
  • Rebalancing of COD/N/P ratio by phosphorus and nitrogen contribution present in septage for greases treatment,
  • Dilution of fats which improves their pumping and their transfer,
  • Septic tank are never free from greases,
  • Only one investment for the two products,

For WWTP with a strong variation of COD load (seaside or mountain resort), it could be interesting to digest sludges by mixing them with fats or to make a dumping station for fats during a weak activity period.
